We share our plate with Youth Voice Youth Vote (YV²) a project of Participatory Budgeting Oregon. By sharing real power over real money, participatory budgeting taps the expertise of those most impacted by systemic inequities. It allows them to engage those most underrepresented in government and decision-making directly. Youth Voice Youth Vote is Oregon’s first Participatory Budgeting process. YV² enlisted youth to propose and select over $500,000 in COVID-19 relief and recovery projects in State Senate Districts 24 and 25 that span East Portland, East Multnomah County, and portions of North Clackamas County. YV² expands civic leadership and organizing skills while enhancing and rebuilding community, relationships, and mental health outcomes.
