You are interested in faith exploration. Whether you’ve been a spiritual seeker as long as you can remember, or are just dipping a toe in now, you are curious about the benefit of working with a qualified spiritual companion. I offer a complimentary initial conversation to help discern if we are a match.
My Approach
Bring your curiosity, your creative spark, the questions you ponder, and your aspirations. I’ll join you with my capacity for deep listening and reflective presence. Together, we forge a unique path for mutual reflection and growth. I am particularly attuned to the spiritually independent seeker and can serve as a guide at those junctures where you seek deeper meaning, want to discern a new direction or reframe your personal narrative. I understand the searching questions and sometimes frankly skeptical attitude of those whose values are not shaped by any one faith tradition.
My Background
My own path draws on an eclectic body of interfaith perspectives and healing practices. My style is open inquiry and contemplation, drawing from many traditions and influences, anchored in Unitarian Universalism and Buddhist meditation practice. At First Unitarian, I currently serve as a lay minister and architect of the weekly Vespers service. I have led support groups on grief, care giving and living through transitions, and now guide a long-running contemplative conversation group. I know and love the Wellspring program, having been both participant and facilitator as well as a certified spiritual companion to many. My formal certification is with Urban Spiritual Center of Portland. I follow the ethical guidelines of my memberships in Spiritual Directors International (SDI), UU Society of Community Ministers (UUSCM), and UU Spiritual Directors Network (UUSDN).
My Invitation
Join me for compassionate, reflective listening. We meet for an hour, usually monthly, more often if you prefer, zoom or in person. Fees are based on a sliding fee scale commensurate with your circumstances. Be prepared for deep questions and personal discovery.
