Greetings,
It is good to see that despite the weather, many more of us are coming together in person at church on Sunday mornings. Children are returning to our RE classes, and we were delighted to see the children’s choir and our family ukelele band play in service – another sign that what we once knew as “normal” in our church life is returning.
Much is happening all around the church. This coming Sunday, March 19, the Board will be hosting a Forum and Café Conversations after service from 12:15 to 1:45. The topic is an important one. The bylaws that govern our larger Unitarian Universalist denomination, including our purposes for being, our seven principles and the sources from which we draw inspiration, call for us to revisit those purposes, principles and sources at least every 15 years. The last major change to them was made in the mid-1980s. Reverend Alison will outline the proposed changes, and then we will break into groups to discuss what we think and feel about them. The input we receive will be organized and given to our delegates to this year’s General Assembly, where they will be voting on whether to accept the proposed changes. Please come and let your voice be heard. Light snacks and childcare will be provided and you may also attend virtually. Watch the church website and the Front Steps for information on how to join the meeting.
Another very exciting event coming in April is the return of our annual auction! Many of us have missed this wonderful event that both raises money for church projects and provides opportunities for congregants to share social and community-building time together. This year’s theme is “Zap the Gap” as the proceeds will help us come closer to realizing our annual fundraising goal. Look for links to the online bidding program in the e-news. Information about items to bid on will be available after service on April 23, 30, and May 7.
And last but very much not least, we will be installing Reverend Alison as our new Senior Minister on April 16 at 4:00 PM. Installation is an essential ritual in the life of our church. It reflects our annual theme, “Rooted in Relationship,” as it formalizes our relationship and shared ministry with Reverend Alison. We hope you will join us in this celebration.
As always, congregants are welcome to attend Board meetings, which occur on the first Thursday of the month and can be accessed virtually.
In service,
Your Board of Trustees
