For February, we share our plate with The Blueprint Foundation, which aims to eliminate the opportunity gap for Black youth within the Portland Metropolitan Area. The Blueprint Foundation (TBF) engages youth in culturally specific experiences that introduce them to and prepare them for family-sustaining careers in disciplines where black-identified individuals are currently underrepresented.
TBF focuses on careers in the green sector through several programs, such as its Green Workforce Academy. They use an approach where youth witness nature, investigate environmental challenges, contribute to solutions, and then codify learning while educating the community.
Participants learn how to build green infrastructure that has a direct environmental impact, including urban forestry and groundwater projects.
